Sweet Summer Days Slipping Away

Hello Everyone,

It feels like a while since I’ve written to you all. We’ve had such a beautiful Summer with its long, light & luscious days ~ I really don’t want it to end, yet simultaneously, I know nature is pining for more rain. I’ve just started to notice the slightly different hue of sunlight upon the trees in the morning, hints of warm golden light and a slight chill in the air…and then of course, the odd storm! There is something truly beautiful here in the UK when we receive those subtle hints of the seasonal shift. It’s a gentle reminder that life is transient, and everything within it is too. Change is within us and all around us, we’re continually reminded to let things go and make changes for new experiences, information and opportunity, all creating our life tapestries.

Some of us find change really difficult, especially those big upheavals that don’t have predictable outcomes. Many people have children heading off to university/leaving home for the first time; starting college; new jobs; moving house or embarking on other adventures. Or some changes can be really small, like passing on or getting rid of belongings that are no longer useful, letting go of unhelpful habits, routines and schedules that no longer serve: but what I love in doing this is knowing that this creates space for something new to be created.

One thing that is always an anchor during times of change is your yoga practice: what ever form it takes. And even throughout life, that practice will change and evolve to suit your needs, but it is always something that can be there to turn to and support with life’s ups and downs. I was able to continue teaching most classes this Summer to help create that anchor for our community. I also created a 21 Day Yoga Challenge with live classes on YouTube every morning to encourage the practice regardless of where your were travelling to over the holidays.

21 Day Yoga Challenge remains available on Living Your Yoga YouTube

I know that Yoga works; it can support healing, it helps you remain connected to yourself and others in your community; it can help create stability and inner strength when navigating life’s challenges; it can help ease stress and anxiety when overwhelmed; it can uplift and it can help to invoke calm. A yoga practice can support your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health: whether it’s meditation, gentle movement or exploring funky arm balances and headstands, a daily practice of breath awareness and some kind of conscious movement will undoubtedly benefit you. I hope that Living Your Yoga can support you in some way on your yoga path.

Do read on to find out about our Autumn Schedule; our new Hatha Yoga Class; new venue for Friday Morning Classes; 21 Day Yoga Challenge on YouTube; November’s Well-Woman Event; The Feminine Connection’s first Well-Woman Retreat February 2027; Turkey Yoga Retreat 2027 booking up; the return of Funky Wellness; The Human Collective Festival this weekend; and Living Your Yoga turns 8!!

AUTUMN SCHEDULE

Tuesday 2nd September ~ Friday 23rd October 2026

Our updated schedule: Click here to book your place for the term ahead.

Please read below for class changes & updates:

  • Introducing Hatha Yoga 6.15-7.15pm on a Thursday evening. This class will be the same level as Men’s Yoga, but now available for Women to attend too! It’s a class that supports a steady build in it’s progression of postures, suitable for both beginners and those with experience that are seeking a balanced movement practice for the whole body with breath work and a short meditation/relaxation practice. (see my 21 day yoga challenge on YouTube here for an idea of the style and pace of practice)

  • New venue: all Friday morning classes will now take place at the beautiful Stoneleigh Village Hall. Parking is free and available on site. It might be nice to lift share where possible (please message on our group WhatsApp if you’d like to lift share). Click here to book your class.

  • I've had to increase our class prices by 50 pence per class to try and make up for the price increases in hall hire. I haven’t increased our prices in 4 years, despite all hall’s increasing their prices, so I hope that this won’t discourage you from continuing to practice with me. Do message me if there are financial implications in attending classes for us to organise a separate payment scheme.

Living Your Yoga YouTube: 21 Day Yoga Challenge

Thank you to all of you that have been letting me know how you’ve been getting on with our YouTube classes. It’s been brilliant to hear how you’ve been using the recordings whilst you’re on holiday or to support you with your other movement/exercise regime. I created this challenge in replacement of our usual August Sun Salutation Yoga Challenge as I felt we needed something new and different. I know many of you weren’t able to practice live with me (I still can’t believe I’ve been doing YouTube lives at 7.30 in the morning - neither can my partner and family!), but all of the classes will remain available for you to access anytime.

Personally, I found that 21 minutes every morning a brilliant way to start the day and certainly felt very uplifted and ready for the day afterwards! The focus of the practices throughout is on mobility, stability, balance, release, proprioception and focus, and I’ve tried to offer variations throughout to suit varying levels of ability.

Well-Woman Event: Saturday 21st November (2.15-5.15pm)

It feels like a long way off, but this November’s Well-Woman Event is available for booking and I know it’s going to feel really special. I only run two of these events a year now and they are always popular with an amazing community of women, deeply nourishing and reflective practices, delicious treats and a guest speaker. The guest speaker for this event is the wonderful Emma Servant, Acupuncturist, Meditation Teacher & Reiki Healer (who is also excited about joining us!)

As usual, our practices will be seasonally inspired with warming practices for joint stiffness and mobility; pelvic floor practices; flowing and static postures to support posture; soothing breath work; meditation; visualisation and yoga nidra.

A home-made delicious treat and drink will be available, along with fruit for our break time.

I hope you can make it.

Living Your Yoga turns 8!

I can’t believe that Living Your Yoga turns 8 this September. From what began as a Yoga Class in my friends kitchen has blossomed over the years and has become my life’s work.

The seed of every new Living Your Yoga class, project, collaboration, venue, training, magazine article, festival, event or retreat, has always stemmed from an invitation or a student requirement. All idea’s and proposals have been rooted in the needs of our community and this is purely how LYY has evolved over the years. Long may it continue! There’ll be a little celebratory letter next month with more around Living Your Yoga’s growth over the years and how we might like to celebrate it as a community! Thank you for all of your support & commitment to your practice - I will always be grateful that I’ve been able to walk alongside you on your yoga path.

I think that’s all for now! Thank you if you have you read this far down.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat somewhere soon!

Much Love,

Breath of Life by Danna Faulds

I breathe in All That Is -

Awareness expanding

to take everything in,

as if my heart beats

the world into being.

From the unnamed

vastness beneath the

mind, I breathe my

way to wholeness

and healing.

Inhalation. Exhalation.

Each breath a “yes,”

and a letting go,

a journey, and a

coming home.
